ASTM D1621
Standard Test Method for Compressive Properties of Rigid Cellular Plastics
What it measures
Crushes a specimen of rigid foam and reports the compressive strength and modulus, usually at 10 percent deformation.
Why it matters for a panel envelope
In a panel the foam has to resist the crushing forces that would otherwise buckle the steel, and it is what stops interior and exterior finishes from oil-canning.
