ASTM E2226

Standard Practice for Application of Hose Stream

What it measures

The companion to a fire-resistance test. Immediately after the furnace exposure, a duplicate specimen is hit with a fire hose stream at a specified pressure and duration to prove the assembly does not disintegrate under fire-fighting conditions.

Why it matters for a panel envelope

An assembly can survive the heat and still fail when water hits it. Codes require the hose stream for many rated assemblies, so a rating quoted without it is incomplete.

Guardian Shield™

Load-bearing exterior walls and demising and corridor walls have been tested to ASTM E2226-08 alongside the E119 fire test.
